Over the last few months I’ve been looking at a number of low cost entry level FPGA development boards. The XuLA from XESS is one of those and also one that comes well recommended by other engineers. So in this blog post I will review how I think it compares to others in the sub $100 price range.

Among the low cost FPGA development tools sits one name that we are all familiar with. FTDI who are well known for their range of interface chips, from USB to just about anything they are true a leader. However they also make a number of FPGA modules that allow for design, development and experimentation. One of these FPGA modules is the Morph-IC-II FPGA development module.

When it come to most Dev Kits people can normally find one that fits their needs. However when entering the world for FPGA’s people are always asking which kit to buy. Why? Well they have always been expensive, that it till now. In this blog I review the latest offering from terasic, the DE0-Nano.
